Rebecca creates each Husky Tale by drawing on a reservoir of memories and the current-day antics of her own siberian husky, whom she rescued when he was a two-year-old about to be euthanized for lack of a home. Rebecca thinks of the books as a way for kids to learn about love, friendship, humanity, respect for nature and -at times- about transcending grief. The foundational book, "Home for a Husky" presents the positive fate of a young red husky housed in a pet shelter, awaiting a home, and losing hope until he is indeed rescued and meets Rainah, a young girl who becomes his best friend. The subsequent Husky Tales tell of their life-adventures together. Rebecca lives in Virginia and writes each story book on her Blackberry.
